How the site is funded
Running test servers and the site costs money. We cover it with display ads from Google AdSense. We don't sell data, charge for tests or accept payment from internet providers. We currently don't use affiliate links or publish sponsored content.
Where ads appear
- Every ad is labelled Advertisement and sits in a space reserved for it, so the page doesn't jump when it loads.
- No ads are placed next to the Start button, inside the gauge or results, or within tool input and output areas.
- Ad scripts load only after the page has settled and never while a test is running, so they can't slow the measurement.
- Tool pages carry no more than two ads, both below the tool in the explanatory text and above the footer. Policy pages, the methodology, About and Contact carry none.
Editorial independence
Test results are calculated from real traffic in your browser; advertising has no access to them and no effect on them. Provider and city pages are independent guides. We don't rank providers based on payment, and pages that name an ISP are not endorsed by or affiliated with it.
Ads come from Google's network, and we don't choose individual advertisers. An ad for an internet provider is not a recommendation.
Your choices
You can turn off personalised ads at Google Ad Settings or use a content blocker; the site works fully either way. See the privacy policy and cookie policy for what ad scripts collect.
Report a problem ad
If you see a misleading or inappropriate ad, or one placed where it gets in the way, email [email protected] with the page address and a screenshot.
